what an eye opener!
it seems that a lot of folks really spend some amazing cash on food.
our family of five spends $50-$60/week.

Hi Cruzaheart,
I'm glad if I can help. The first book that helped me was "The Tightwad Gazzette;" by Amy Dacyzyn. It is an amazing book. It has money saving ideas from all over the place, plenty that I don't use but many that have helped my family get through rough times unscathed and that have helped us actually save money in a savings account during good times. Another good book that might help... if you can find it, is "The New Cookbook for Poor Poets and Others;" by Ann Rogers. I have never read such an entertaining cookbook. The philosophy of the book is to have good food that doesn't leave one feeling deprived or hungry but to save money and stretch the budget. I have tried a lot of the recipes and they come out really well. Several were HUGE hits with the family and have become favorites.
There were other books that have helped me a lot too. Let me know what you think of these two after you've had a chance to read them.

Our family of five spends $50-$60/week. I don't skimp on quality at all, we eat well! I have finally decided after watching so many raw veggies go to waste since Tris was born to get our salad at the salad bar at our local health food store. This has added about about $3/week but we are getting a huge variety of fresh veggies and none is going to waste now.
Yerusalem, I don't have teenagers, so my hat is off to you! I have heard the legends of teenage appetites.
Saving money on groceries means really paying attention to a whole lot of factors including the preferences of all the folks in your household, their nutritional needs, food allergies, sales etc etc. We shop at three different stores, it takes about 1 hour each week. I spend about 1 more hour planning the menu while consulting the sale flyers etc.
If folks want to save money on their food bills there are some excellent books that taught me an awful lot.

portions are way too big.
would you agree with me that portions that we eat are too big?
today on the news, they said that 1 canadian out of 3 is overweight.
It isn't actually cheaper to eat fast food than to go to the grocery and buy healthy food... what an idea.
I get our groceries, for five people, for about $50/week. If we ate fast food it would be 3 times that easily!

Well, I missed the post... but if the complaint is cramps or irregularity raspberry tea might help quite a bit. You take a teaball full of raspberry leaves and steep them covered in a mug full of boiled water. Steep 15 minutes and drink hot every day. I'm not sure why it works but it's helped me a lot.

okay, so i'm standing in the bathroom brushing my teeth .
"i believe in god.
the almighty god taught in the bible.
I seem to have at least two great lessons before me; to learn to say goodbye,to let go, and to learn to see other options. I have found that I have often felt trapped in my life circumstances. After suffering a long time, I have eventually found that I had options, options I had rejected as impossible... like walking away from the WTBTS.

with the increase in international terrorism, do you think it's likely that bush could be assassinated?
how would the american people that arent behind bush and the looming war in iraq at the moment react if it did happen?
do you think it would lead to more bills like 'homeland security' that restrict the american peoples freedom?
As one who is not behind Bush, I would say that I would be sad to see him assasinated. He has a family that would miss and mourn him, his parents are still alive and that is just an awful thought. It is always tragic and terrible when parents have to bury thier children.
I would love to see him voted out of office, but I would cry with all the rest if he were cut down by assasins.
I do think his murder would tend to cause America as a nation to be "more beligerant." There's nothing like terrorism to stir folk up, is there?

i cant say that im a fan of affirmative action but bushs comments and actions against the u of m kind of burns me.
again, while i dont believe in affirmative action, i have to admit that it does help the "little guy.
" where i work there is another engineer who got a free ride through college because he received a hispanic scholarship while i spent 10 years paying back my student loans.
Trauma Hound, you seriously remind me of my friend Jon. Don't worry he is a great guy. Rock on!
Spartacus, while I would theoretically prefer Gore in the White House due to his being a democrat, which I generally prefer to republicans, I have no love for him. I hear he is a condecending, arrogant prick. I have not heard that he has a special gift for butchering the English language. I have trouble believing there is anyone to rival Dubbaya in that department unless it was the infamous Dan Quayle.
